Beneath The Tree Of Life Poem by Juan Olivarez

Beneath The Tree Of Life

I stood beneath the tree of life,
And beheld the setting fruit.
Growing through the joy and strife,
In every direction grew the shoots.

Branches extended to the sky,
With fruit of every kind.
So beautiful it made me cry,
And it's enormity boggled my mind.

When the tree was young so long ago,
I had it in my mind,
If ever it would get to grow,
And put forth more of it's kind.

And now as I sit in it's cooling shade,
And feel the gentle breeze,
I can behold the seedlings it has made,
I can't see the forest through the trees.

The lines: In every direction grew the shoots. Branches extended to the sky, is so metaphorical of the vastness of life, and the Creator of life. Wonderful words!
