Behind Me Is The Past Poem by Jennifer Peckins

Behind Me Is The Past

I was lost
Feeling a little betrayed
Apathetic and agitated
My mind rarely swayed

I was malicious
Not resulting in remorse
Hunting and dependent
Your anguish was my source

I was broken down
Waiting for a pause
Unsettled and insomnious
Wandering without a cause

I was the fire
Without the water, earth, or wind
Isolated and irritated
Alone because I sinned

I was so weak
So much did I feel
Vulnerable and helpless
The world became so real

I was too much
Feeling everything and nothing
Moody and irritable
Wanted my life to mean something

I admit how I was
But now I have changed
Tranquil and blissful
No longer deranged
