‘before Zegre Fights Poem by Michael Popoola

‘before Zegre Fights

It was a deep tear,
parading the entire river course,
seen the vegetative cover with eagle eye,
people with great inheritance,
resource of great value,
rich yet lack,
beautiful yet rejected,
leader yet under slavery

the 7th continent of space’s dot,
come down the meanders,

come along the Niger river,
see through Benue basin,
fakes along the Delta,
crying, terror, anguish,
mother losing a day old baby,

massacre of whole village,
tears of endless fire incidence,
weeping air quality,
fishes firing arrows at men,
Zegre home completely destroyed,
heavens calling for intervention,

if not……….
you will see the other eyes of Zegre
