Before All Poem by Barry Middleton

Before All

last year's bloom
refuses to die
such are orchids

protected in glass
green fingers
seek mute mothers

they know not
what they become
but the path is set

the garden is a bell jar
the gardener a god
a hope becoming

without his love
cold consuming winds
crush their audacity
