Becoming An Adult Poem by Crazy Vampire

Becoming An Adult

Rating: 5.0

Everyone said we would grow up someday
They said we would make it through the rough times, we would be okay
Yet, they forgot to mention the overwhelming stress we would face
And that sometimes school education could feel like a waste
It is frustrating when you’re stuck in situations where you don’t know what to do
It’s terrifying to know that you can be rejected for being you
No one said that we would be forced to grow up fast
Or that our childhood wouldn’t last
They did not say that our decisions would affect the rest of our lives
Every mistake we make feels as if we were getting stabbed with knives
As we mature, we are shown less affection from our loved ones
The moon completely covers our warming sun
It is difficult to come of age under everyone’s definition of okay
From the right path, they don’t want us to go astray
Depression can be our best friend
Responsibilities are being thrown at us, without much time to comprehend
It’s frightening to realize that soon we will be on our own
Into a world that is still unknown
If only growing up could be a less disturbing fate
All that’s left is to see what will come next… we must wait…

I feel that this poem is the first to begin to describe and visualize while u emote. Keep it up. You don't have to post everything you write (unless it makes u feel good) but read some of the visual imagery i have created and use that to paint pictures with your words. ~beau
