Beautiful Nation Poem by Susan Ng'ang'a

Beautiful Nation

Black is a happy colour,
For stars shine in the dark sky
Black is a sad colour,
Representative of death and evil
Black is a beautiful colour,
Black-beauty a common term they say
Black is a cool colour,
For those with a sense of fashion; swag to the teens
Black is a peaceful colour,
Combines with anything

It does not pick specifics
How? You ask
Simple-

Goes with yellow, doesn't discriminate it because of its betterhalf
Pink too, ignores the girlish aspect of it
White too, despite of it being a dispersion and its contrast
Red too, as much as it depicts danger and bloodshed
Brown too, even if it shows infertility of land

What about jealousy?
You are wondering,
Black knows none of such-

Look at purple, even if it proves to be an indicator of royalty
Blue too, no envy for the bright light it sheds on darkness
Green too, even though it is accorded praise for fertility
'Pride of a country'
Orange too, for it demands more attention everywhere
Moreso grey, despite of it being a sibling,
It is way cooler and laid back
Mixture of light and darkness, an indigenous breed!

So, let's all be black
And discard discrimination
'Cause we are all beautiful colours
All with a flaw-
Not forgetting a significance
And
Great Beauty

This is so nice, girl, I did really like this philosophy of colours. It is a nice piece of poem but your focus had all been on the philosophy rather than poetry. You just need to pay Little attention to rhythm and rhyme. This may add some music.
