Baltimore Poem by Mason Maestro

Baltimore

Stiff neck police and a Freddie coma
Transport beating homicide
Gray passed the following morning
One dead in Baltimore

Had to get down to chaotic
Soldiers deployed across the board
State of space grown tonic
City Hall to Inner Harbor hoard
State of emergency curfew
How can you hide from your virtue?
One dead in Baltimore
Prejudice stands on the mound
Should have been done long ago
Another five beat to the ground
How can you run when you know?
One dead in Baltimore

Stiff neck police and burning rage
Deep resentment fossilized
Renewed brutality the following morning
One dead in Baltimore
