Bakhmut Russia War Zone - The Old And Elderly Have No Place To Go Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Bakhmut Russia War Zone - The Old And Elderly Have No Place To Go

And as one by one city is getting invaded,
homes and apartments get vacated
as people keep fleeing their houses
fearing the bombs and missiles may fall on them
and they may perish in the explosion like firewood;
and as streets are getting isolated and abandoned
no one is certain what tomorrow beholds and withholds;

it is Bakhmut which is under fire now
it is so pathetic how life still moves on there;
as though so many have lost their lives
so many still sit and sleep helpless and homeless;
and though the old and elderly take shelter in bunkers
sometimes they fear their end must be near
yet they take courage and face the hardships bravely

Bakhmut takes on its strength and fights back
whether it is the hope that makes them meek
it is their country's dignity they fight for and seek;
and though many may be those fatalities
there is no option but to bear the explosions;
and as missiles keep falling like a rainfall,
the old and elderly still sit there with courage
as they have no place to go neither the energy;
and they wait for the war to end and bring in peace
but when will the eyes of mercy ever open its lids
and see the sufferings a war-torn city faces
or will those homes remain abandoned and lonely
or will those families never regain their unity for long?
