Bad Company Poem by kenneth william snow

Bad Company

Rating: 5.0

Another chance to be the cad
Presents itself in guise of lad
Intent on causing mindless grief
Through wicked strokes of master thief

When given guide to lighted point
Young man would hasten to anoint
Himself and witless comrades’ blue
Celebrity—without a clue

Ye gather fruit of somber seed
And quickly follow debased deed
Replete with cumbrous ecstasy
Ingrained in deepest sympathy

Sordid sorrow sells symbolic
Acts and subtle fits of colic
Felt as wave of guilt inherent
Exercised as feat abhorrent

Promoted swift and ruthlessly
Denied as such untruthfully
In graven image unrestrained
Less consciousness, no query stained

Cast at last as seed of sorrow
Sullied first and fit for morrow
Shadow days of sun resplendent
Gifting heart to need dependent
