Back Together Poem by Casey Gochnour

Back Together

Our love isn’t as far as you think,
It could never be gone in just a blink.
Our love cascades like waterfalls more than you think,
And you know our love is still in sync.

And you can’t deny, that you and I,
There’s something so powerful between us.
Our love can never die,
There’s always more for us to discuss.

With love so strong, how could we be wrong?
We stretched so far, but not too thin,
Time apart was what we needed all along.
And now we can win.

Now we can sew the bonds back together,
We can bring back what tore apart.
We can come back altogether,
And fix the broken beat of our heart.

It may seem like it would take a leap,
But I’ll be right here to catch you if you fall,
I can’t promise the drop won’t be steep,
But baby, I’ll give it my all.

I know we can make things work again,
With love like ours, it won’t be hard,
And I know you miss it now and then.
It’s not something we can discard.

It’s the way you and I flow,
We can be like the water, like you dream,
I tend to fight currents, I know,
But I know how to go with the stream.

I’ve been learning a lot, and,
I’ve turned out alright, and,
If you give me your hand,
I’ll help you hold on.

So let’s put these pieces back together,
Let’s sew these hearts up, and whether,
We need to start again and have things brand new,
I’d rather have that than nothing;
I’d rather live with you.
