Aya Jafar Poem by Taher Shemaly

Aya Jafar

Aya Jafar, what did you do
you have splitted this heart
and the mourning will continue
until this body for this life part

O beloved, under the sand
went down and only rocks stand
while your visit is banned
in Baqee' the heavens of land

Ya Jafar, the cheek is not satisfied
by the tear that will pour down and down
and the eyes should not be dignified
if not for sadness with cry they are blown

O lonely one on the cold floor
here I come to you asking for more
from the wisdom you spread before
in here, in there, in the world afore

Ya Sadiq, your grandfather before
and now it was your time to go
then your grandsons faced the sore
by the tyrants of the might and ego

O poisoned one with such cruelty
where is the justice and its mentality
now they knocked your grave for no necessity
and yet, tomorrow your followers are the mortality
-----
Ya, Aya = O, in English.
Baqee'= place name in Medina in KSA, knocked down by authorities.
Sadiq = a title for imam Jafar.

For the anniversary of the death of imam Jafar Al-Sadiq (peace upon him) , the sixth imam according to the Shiites school of thought.
