Lebanon Poem by Taher Shemaly

Lebanon

If you are chasing the wind
away from bearing life and its load
shall I tell you where to wind
away from this heavy world
by the cedar tree have a bend
and take a look at what would

it is a tiny place setting proud
by its mountains and its seas
higher than the highest cloud
something your eyes never sees
it is a big place cannot hide
they call it Lebanon as it seems

beside the white mountains
beside the raging calm rivers
dropp down your worries
dropp down your sorries
calm down and enjoy
fill your heart with joy

even though it stands at barbarians feet
the calm beauty will always at the end beat
and if you are looking around for a feat
or once where goodness the evil did defeat
you can find a place in this land of heat
Lebanon, the land of peace, the land so neat
