Away From Work Poem by Doris Cornago

Away From Work

Rating: 3.5

Such bliss, such ingenuity, fitting you to me
Deflecting anger from miscommunication
Squares in stack, brains rack for words
Catching repentant eyes in glancing
Scoring, carefully tracking points
Not intent on winning, losing
A glimpse of you across
We're sharing time
Away from
Work
A
Flicker
Of light in
The dark night
Your hand warm
Your words touch
My contrary doubting
Mind, but my heart holds
Fast your words promising
Protection, tucking my feet in
When left all alone, scrambling
Sails wrecked by storm, lonesome
My alter ego who best understands
Dimmest perceptions, fangs and talons
Reformed toothless angel by your adoration

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Scrabble is a strategic way of settling a dispute for those who realize that the prize is greater than what's at stake - if you know how to use every letter tile. Vocabulary is not the main winning strategy but eye contact and gauging your opponent. Of course, it's also a very entertaining and addictive game. As with all games, you play to win.

This is how I settle a dispute. No harsh words but a subtle, pleasant way of proving my mastery of male nature.: -)
