Awake My Soul Poem by Sunday Igwebuike

Awake My Soul

Manor sobs at the gate offers my black hands the farm. The intruders running out of ideas left quite unexpectedly. 'What would my ancestors think? ' I asked.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Manor was a character in George Orwell's satire The Animals Farm. He lost the farm meaning capitalism as espoused by Adam Smith in his Wealth of the Nations to Communism as espoused by Karl Marx which the defunct Soviet Union and her allies praticalised leading to the cold war, a struggle between the western economies mostly capitalists and Soviet Union with her allies mostly communists. Communism fell as the Animals Farm by Orwell said. Manor was to regain his farm. So he found me(through my goggle profile) and handed the farm to me. So I asked if my ancestors(my race) would think good of it. I wonder!
