August Anniversary Poem by Joyce Hemsley

August Anniversary

Hello, our serenading friend,
As from heaven you now descend.
Dear Elvis, in your suit of white
The world remembers you tonight.
Now and ever, may love be true.
You gave us 'fever' all life through.
Sorry we stepped on your blue suade shoes
Whilst you sang the Mississippi Blues.

Please shed no tears oh handsome one,
You did it your way ~ the deed is done,
Always wearing that loved-on look
Like the photo in our picture book.
You will be travelling on a golden road,
The lane to heaven ~ after the show!
Honkey Tonk Angels will welcome you in.
As you exit this building, our tears will begin.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

really enjoyed this Joyce, I miss the pure honest energy of young Elvis and those Honkey Tonk Angels are ever appealing when we exit the building
