At About 40, Light The Candle At Both Ends! Poem by Chuy Amante

At About 40, Light The Candle At Both Ends!

Rating: 3.5

You got ten years to:

Climb Chomolungma 珠穆朗玛峰
stay perky
ride your bike thru Canada
swim the channel
pull off 4 hour sex
build a cabin
surf big ones
hitch hike Europe
travel via workaway
see, be, free for a bit...

but, that candle must be lit
NOW!
At both ends
Burn that flame passionately
stoke it with air
while you have hair
in the right places!
It's off to the races

That belly is chasing you
as well as that middle aged face
the color gray is creeping up

You soon be sleeping with three men,
and it doesn't matter whether man or femme:

Arthur Itis
Ben Gay
Charlie Horse

They'll all move into your bed at once
they want you and will have you
they will dissipate you
frustrate you
and blow your candle out!

Go big, go fast, no time to waste
or cut and paste
wrinkles
and a good Lazyboy

Even to an eighty-year old! Beautifully written! And witty as well!
