That captures so succintly what a t is meant to accomplish - the awareness of our need to just STOP, be in the moment, and value silence for its own sake. The speaker's dim awareness of distant traffic strikes me as proof his has achieved quietude in spite of the world rashjng around him. This id an interior poem which diesn't deny the rest of the world but shows a way beyond it, . The poem will reminfd of this lesson ehrn you'tr bsck in the world..

hey, daniel! i'm glad you found this one and appreciated it. that retreat was productive poem-wise; i wrote this one, the struck gong, and a third one i can't remember at the moment. and shortly afterwards, as i recall, i wrote on reading a book of mystic writings. i had no expectations of writing anything, no hopes of writing anything, but the poems came. thanks for your reading and comments! glen
