Asylum Seekers Poem by Raken Marimuthu

Asylum Seekers

Rating: 4.5

Listen to me! Hey some of you, the bloody hypocrites who betray
Burn your wisdom books, for you don’t deserve their possessions
Your desires, thoughts, words and actions are in freezing disarray
You’re awful animals disguised with no conscience for confessions

Your own blood beloved brothers you fight like cats and dogs
For the flesh you will sell your wisdom to bare beasts of your kind
For a penny, for the power, for your prosperity you will cruelly hog
Saying your boundary, your land, your territory and all that you find

In their own world my fellow brothers are kneeled to seek refuge
Like slaves they are tossed up and down mercilessly to survive
They run from the cruel crude clutches of some bandits who deluge
They also have feelings, families and precious likings to revive

In this vast wide world allow them to live like any other living creature
Restore their human dignity, no matter what and let them have a say
To live their life where they want and how they want with their Preacher
Give these asylum seekers their right to live in the glory of sun’s ray

Let me warn you deaf and dump mankind that you ever defy Nature
Knowing that you reap what you sow, for action there will be reaction
The more you take the more you lose and you destroy all that you nurture
The world will cease with chaos and confusion with all your imperfections

You have the will to put things right, you have the heart to set it right
Make a borderless world, one human race, one world the human domain
Wake from thy apparent slumber; gird your belt, stand with your might
Live for a purpose, go for a reason, and die for a cause that is all humane.
