As The Acorn Aspires To The Oak Poem by Kenna

As The Acorn Aspires To The Oak

As the acorn aspires to the oak
A man toward his dream unfolding grows;
But dreams and goals alone do not evoke
Life - for growth depends on what love bestows.

And when my love from me daily departs
The mien of trees transform a forest dark
Where creatures and strange specters tear apart
My limbs, my roots, my leaves, my gnarled bark.

Lush leaves of the canopy burn like flames
As she returns with piercing sunshined light
And shadows shrink away to where they came
And all takes on a luminescent sight

For the dormant oak in me breaks its seed
And grows the more she, of my dreams, let breed.
