As I Recall Her... Poem by Bryan Taplits

As I Recall Her...

Reviewing all I've seen in life
One thing I've idolized,
I soughed my sighs, and have always prized-
That mischief in your eyes.

No flaw in frame or form deploys
In eyes which hide an elf
They gleam like sacred senuous toys-
Enchanting my pagan-ed potion-ed self.

Drunk, my heart be purloined pelf-
Each orb a sophisticate's surprise-
Revealing neither draw nor shelf-
But only the mischief in your eyes.

The years of you remain on hold
No assessment on youth applied nor spent,
My heart, once purchased and never sold,
As I view in reminiscence.

Your flirting gleams-those tantalizing twin spies,
That you hold so close-and which you toss to me-
My heart pursues-
as it also flees-
Being caught in that mischief in your eyes.
