As A Moon Tries To Be A Sun! Poem by Veeraiyah Subbulakshmi

As A Moon Tries To Be A Sun!

as a turkey tries to be a peacock,
showing its short colorless plumage,
as a cat tries to be a tiger,
showing its canine to terror the rats,
the slimy worms lift their heads,
to show their tiny body thinking as cobras,
a dirty moon tries to be a sun,
flashing the reflected fading light.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but it shows a lack of imagination or individuality of the imitator..one should always be true to oneself or that entity will never achieve happiness and inner peace...wonderful thought provoking poem..critters know and accept what they are..people like to pretend and wear masks and Nature can be the grand illusionist but that's a matter of interpretation..

I am not a die-hard religious person.I see links everywhere. In many countries including Persia, the warriors worshipped the Sun coz its source of light.Moon might well get its light from the Sun as proved by science but before this proof it is to be considered people and beliefs existed.Moon as a crescent is a symbolic in every Islamic countries and its also on the head of Chandrashekhara Lord Shiva for whom in India millions of women make brats like Shiv Ratri and pray for longevity of conjugal relationship through the Karwachauk adding importance to the moon.Lord Shiva`s preachings compiled in Upanishads are the one taught by one of his greatest disciple who he ordered to go to the deserts on earth and preach because of his fallacies and shortcomings. He was born human the last prophet Mohammed Rasulallah as Shiva called him Mahamad or Maha mad whose teachings were mostly anti-paganism though people there in the deserts highly appreciated.Mod is nothing but intoxication what Lord Shiva is also famous for as he was depicted to be not a teetotaller. But women praying to Lord Shiva prays for non-alcoholic non-smoking husband-the irony.Kaaba which was before an Indian King Vikramadityas Shiva temple-Mohammeds uncle was a priest in that Now this has contradictions as hardcore islamics would not pay heed to it and call it a mythology dubious be it Hindu or Greek or anything else coz we do not believe unless we see it.But that does not mean something does not exist.Naked eyes do not see the bacterias and viruses until ages are spent to invent electron microscopes.Today Islam-it is the second biggest assumed religion.Darkness of the night are nothing but the blackened ashes dabbed body of Lord Shiva who you do not see but may be he exists and see your souvenir this poem here.Do notice also Lord Shivas instrument -a darbouka which is a famous arabic percussion instrument used in bellydances where beautiful Arabic women portray serpentine passions-so a snake you get also when you see Lord Shiva`s incarnation hissing from his shoulders and neck.So do not defame the moon.As for your Sun-in the Hindu mythology of Mahabharata it failed to give significance to Karna who suffered also defamation being born of an unmarried mother Kunti.Later on his abilities showed him hitting the fish`s eye for Draupadi also-but everyone knows what Draupadi did-she disowned him to be Suns son-sooryavansham got acidulated as he had no patron. So the sun set in the East too as it sets in the West otherwise...everyone of us has individual success and failure here.So goes the moon and sun. They have also limitations or perhaps we failed to explain it fighting against each other propounding religious theories..it was a thought provoking write
