Arthur Rackham In The Mists

To the finest illustrator of fairy stories and whatnot who ever lived.

Arthur Rackham in the mists
I met out wandering in my half dreams
Trailing the flowers of Ophelia
Translating the evanescent into the more than evanescent
How did you live, buttering your bread
Eating the boiled potatoes
A magic fish from the fishmonger?
How can anyone illustrate this
I marvel and marvel
The frost that lingers on panes
When the ghosts pass
Surely there must be a Heaven where you are
Painting the angels more transparently.
Refining the silver moon.
the fairy godmother, in apricot.

just added the line the fairy godmother, in apricot on 29 april 2024. I was thinking of Arthur Rackham's illustration for Charls Dickens lovely fairy tale, 'The Magic Fishbone.'
