Art Class Poem by Angela Wybrow

Art Class

Having completed 0.3 of a mile,
I open the door, and can't help but smile.
For the next two hours, here I will stay,
And all of life's problems will drift away.

From home, I can be there in eight minutes flat,
But, slightly longer if, en route, there's a cat!
Whenever the daylight starts fading away,
At the flick of a switch, night becomes day.

It's a place where the welcome is always warm,
Which offers me shelter away from life's storm.
It is the perfect place for me to hide
From the frantic, frenzied world outside..

In this world of colour and tints and hues,
It is lovely to gather and to share our news.
I love to see all the familiar faces
In one of my foremost favourite places.

Going to Art always cheers up my day -
Whether it's pastels, acrylics or working with clay.
It is a place where I have very often achieved
Things which I never would have ever believed.

It is a place where I can take my time;
Where my heart fills with joy and my soul can shine.
At the end of a lesson, I feel a bit sad,
But, at least, a nice time, by all, has been had.
