Are They Of Salvation? Poem by Stephen Kekeghe

Are They Of Salvation?

What are they bokoharamming?
If religion thrives salvation
Why do they engage in cannibalistic rampage
To salvage it?

Now sorrows swell in souls
Tears loom in eyes
Of relatives bokoharammed

If UN were a man
With which crime was he crucified?
Is it the wind of modernism
That brood us in double credit?

Is it not our bonding with the west
That elongates our wings
With international illumination?

If you must measure Western education
With your biased bane of sin-construct
What ploy powers your mobility?
What mesh networks your publicity?
What gusto makes bomb?

Is this the righteous path
Allah allows you to tread?
Are your arid minds poisoned by peevish politicians
To die in your prime
To swell their avaricious gust?

Tell me now,
Does Allah abhor their children
In the dance of death?
If the father toms the drum
Is it not the child's time to dangle his feet?
What are their generations
Doing in the land of your quarrel?

I ask these questions
In the hot noon of thoughtful thoughts:
What thought are you taught
That you can not tot up
To privilege the value of humanity?
