Appearing Unyielding Poem by Dannielle DeCicco

Appearing Unyielding

Appearing Unyielding to the Presence of Void
Trying not to hurt you
Trying not to hurt too.
Tired of wanting you to want me
Devouring my tranquility as
Humiliation and rejection arise
Over unrequited desire
Beyond Comprehension
Without Compassion
I reluctantly remain as one
I am as one in this whirlwind of life
Never knowing
Never ceasing to try and understand
Complexities are boundless
Obstacles appear endless
Overwhelmed by uncertainty
Pain subsides
Temporarily relieved by a shoulder to cry on
The spectrum of emotions return
But for another day, another tomorrow
I’ll habitually yearn
I’ll yearn for Happiness
And wonder of its elusiveness
And It’s peacefulness
I’ll constantly question its existence.
