Another Dream Poem by Adriaan Noel

Another Dream

Another Dream not a Poem

I am standing in a huge massive hall
Pillars of a formal institution gourd the entrance
Inside this place, I can hear the desperate cries of people in distress
They all are lying on a heap clawing each other and groaning in pain

There is a creature calling me. Not a man nor a woman, but familiar
I am drawn to this creature with immense power
It wants me to joint the heap of miserable people
I am sliding down to it fighting back

I cry out, Jesus, in the name of Jesus, No, Jesus
In an instant the creature started to shrink
It disappeared in a puff of smoke and dust
And then a new creature appeared

This time it is stronger and has the eyes of a snake
I am drawn again down, sliding towards this pit of hell
I am fighting, kicking, my heart is racing mad, no, no
Jesus, Jesus, no, in the name of Jesus, No, Jesus

The heap of crunching desperate is close, I am almost in
Why, I have wings now, I can fly, I have wings
I am running, flapping, jumping, screaming
Taking off slowly, bouncing, leaping

In my way are pillars and poles and bushes
Crashing through, diving under, swerving round
Lifting off, higher and higher and faster
I am away now from th creature, free from his claw

Looking down there are dogs and cats, crazy animals
Teeth and nails grabbing me, ripping me, getting me
I kick them off, struggle free, throw them down
Where do they come from, mad and diseased

Now they can only fall back on the floor
I am up high, I can see from the sky
Each one of the silly beasts would turn as they fall
Turn into beautiful white sheep, with no teeth at all.
