Annie Poem by Terra Bartlebaugh

Annie

Rating: 5.0

You were so young when you were taken,
and I wonder so many things.
Did you see the lights coming at you
and see the angel’s wings?

Did you scream because you knew what would happen
and let go of the wheel?
Did your life flash before your eyes
as you listened to the tires squeal?

Did you have time to even think
and try to swerve out of the way?
Or did you just know that you
wouldn’t see another day?

I regret the time we didn’t share
and the laughs we may not have had.
But the only thing that I don’t regret is
that you are no longer sad.

You loved life and lived it without a
care in the world.
You were a young, caring soul.
You filled everyone's lives with happiness and beauty
and people loved you as a whole.

You will forever remain in our hearts now
because everything is said and done.
You will smile and watch over us
and help us realize that our lives have just begun.

Your passing should make us know that we should
cherish the time we have now with friends.
It should also make us realize that with our enemies
it's time to make amends.

So sleep now dear angel
and let us not be sad.
for she is no longer in pain and for that
we should be glad.

Let us keep her in our thoughts and
remember the good times.
Being happy, living life, and cherishing those around you,
these are not crimes.

Dear Annie, we'll see you in the next life and it'd be
impossible to forget you.
Sleep now, dear Annie, let our regrets
be fair and few.
From this day on, we will start anew.
