Anguished Anticipation Poem by Nalini Jyotsana Chaturvedi

Anguished Anticipation

The crimson
of the western skyline
Vermillion veneer
Marking the end of sunshine

Heavenly and thick
Deeply penetrating
and brisk
The Musk of dusk
Mesmerising us all
Winning our trust

For one never knows
What the dark of night will bring
Shadows creeping around
While fireflies glow
And crickets sing

It's best to be drunk
To be under the spell
Of our dreams
Least the reality faces us
Sucking us
in black holes unseen
