Angst Poem by Richard Dates

Angst

Love
Flows coldly
Hardening icicle
Sharp-pointed
Painful.

Love
Frozen movements
Chilling,
Cringing,
Hiding
In darkness
Seeking, groping blindly,
For a spark of warmth,
Clinging like frost
Quelling the flame
Of hope
Before it can even hope
To be kindled

Love
Motionless
Rigor mortis
Of the Soul
Dying motionless
Embedded in an ice block
Of despair.

Love
Agony,
Angst,
Eternal adolescence,
Pining for long-lost love,
Weeping and wailing
Drenched in perfume or after-shave,
Reeking of deodorant,
Stroking pubescent fuzz,
Gnashing saw-toothed smile,
Rubber face urchin,
Prince or princess,
Lost in the forest
Of waving pubic hair.
