Angel Wings Poem by Aimee Nell

Angel Wings

You cut me,
So many times.
Said I was the one thing
That I never wanted to be.
That I fight not to be.
But I stood by you.
Held you up when you fell.
Quieted your screams.
Tried to soothe your aching heart.
You didn't see.
Then one day
You spoke the unimaginable.
Forever we had said.
Then you cut that away.
You left,
Flying on your angels wings,
Away to a new life.
You left me damaged
And bleeding.
But I stood up,
And continued on.
Until you wandered back,
Your scapegoat failing.
Maybe you did realize
That I was the one you could always depend on.
But we cut that away.
Forever is nothing but a lie.
I let you go.
And I told you so.
But you had to cut me
One last time.
Before you flew away
On your torn and tattered wings.
On your crimson angels wings.
