And So We Go On Poem by Piccola Topo Gigio

And So We Go On

Thus I count the months.
Happy, every month,
For each affixing month,
I add up these months.

Glad for each single one,
In extension of the previous one.
Hoping to expand each present one,
In order to reach yet another one.

Appealing to your liking, inch by inch.
Gaining your affection, bit by bit.
Coaxing your endearment, step by step.
Mooring your attachment, mile by mile.

I want to reel you in; I want you to stay.
Think you won't go, unless I push you away.
And you oppose to leave; that's what you say.
So we continue extending, an additional day.
