An Old Mans Retribution Poem by justin white

An Old Mans Retribution

Rating: 5.0

i see a valley far far away
the sun is high on this brand new day
i hike i trek i walk everywhere
but still i get nowhere near there

i see this valley almost gone
i see it fading on and on
the clouds are rolling right on in
the ground beneath me shudders in sin

the misty peaks are no longer in view
for i have seen something new
for i have seen it right next to me
a tall and withered old tree

its bark wrinkled and cracked
the trees food this environment lacked
it cracks and breaks and falls down far
in the water i see a shining star

it twinkles at me with delight
the things i will see on this wonderful night
but then i look back
and see nothing but black

for such wonderful sights and such wonderful sounds
i am glad i am still on these grounds
i am weary and old like this tree
but i am glad that i am me

my time on this earth has passed me by
ive seen so many sights its made my day fly
but this is the last ill see
goodbye, god is taking me
