An Invisible Force Poem by APPHIA GARCIA

An Invisible Force

You are what make the clouds drift,
Yet I can't see you.
Good deeds, bad deeds you are,
Yet I can't see you.
You are what make the trees dance to silence,
To the beat of your drums they move without hearing a sound from you.

I sit outside at night,
A touch from your hands makes me shiver.
Yet I, can't touch you
I can't see you
And that's not because its dark.

When I sit outside at day
I can feel the warmth of your body.
How refreshed I feel when you come along on a hot day.
But that does not mean I have touched you,
Nor does it mean I have seen you.

The rage from your anger I have never felt
But I sympathize with those who have.
The trees that once dance you uproot them.
The roofs of homes you rip off in a vengeance,
Leaving people homeless or even dead.

A defense they could not put up
They have been deceived by the invisibility of your presence.
They could not stop you,
They could not even have seen you
And neither can I.
We can only feel the effects.
