An August Day In Illowa Poem by Francis Duggan

An August Day In Illowa

An August day in Illowa pleasant for the time of year
The warbling of the magpies always a joy to hear
A Winter sun is shining in a sky of blue and gray
For the time of year and Season it is quite a nice day
The forecasted weather temperatures a high of eighteen degrees
With a pleasant sort of coolness in the freshening coastal breeze
Blowing above the green countryside from nearby Gorman's bay
The contented cattle in the sunshine chewing their cuds do lay
On such mild Winter weather such natural beauty to be seen
The undulating coastal countryside is looking lush and green
The tiny breeding frogs are singing in every pond and drain
It is said of them that they are Nature's forecasters of rain
The distinctive songs of the pee wees always a joy to hear
On a pleasant day in Illowa for the time of year.
