An Appeal Poem by Vinti Jetley

An Appeal

When I fall down, don't pick me up.
Don't even lend me a helping hand.
Just wait for me and watch me rise,
Do pray that I may stand again.

For the fear that you may lose my sight,
Don't guide me through each gloomy lane,
Just teach me how to read those maps,
Which would help me find my way again.

Some days of hunger, few easy meals,
With nerves of steal let me face this life.
Don't wish me luck when I draw my sword,
But hope that I don't shun any strife.

I may not pass each test of strength,
In every duel I may not shine.
Do wish, if ever I start a race,
I must always reach finishing line.

I want to meet my smallest claims,
I yearn to scale some difficult heights.
If you stand in front to give me shade,
You also block my share of light.

I know your harbours were safe for me,
But I long to seek some islands far.
When I set my foot on the trip of life,
Do always keep your door ajar.

The book, the pen, the ink is mine,
Let me write my story at my pace.
I may not meet some sublime goals,
You would find each word has a human grace.

If you share my stage as I act my part,
Who would watch me play my chosen role?
I need your claps when I speak my lines,
Your glint of pride would say it all.

An excellent and beautiful poem. I loved the lines. If you stand in front to give me shade, you also block my share of light. Every parent should read this poem.
