Vinti Jetley Poems

If ever I write a book on my life,
And pen my days in this world of strife,
Some half done deeds, some fulfilled aims,
My sweetest songs, my saddest strains,
...

While sprinting on the track of life,
You pinned your eyes on the finishing line.
You didn’t have time to smile and greet,
Those went passed you or stayed behind.
...

A few fathoms down in the depths of my heart,
Seldom do they lie with slumberous eyes.
They drape my dawns with the glory of hope,
On starless nights they share my sighs.
...

When I fall down, don't pick me up.
Don't even lend me a helping hand.
Just wait for me and watch me rise,
Do pray that I may stand again.
...

Whenever I see an evening star
And a graying sun through rich twilight
I know that one more day has slipped
From a fabric that I held so tight.
...

I live on the edge of town,
Where green fields meet the dark deep woods,
And sparrows sing all day,
I sit betrothed to the swaying fields,
...

As I soar high in the sky,
I take my solitude shorn of a sigh.
Thrills of a flock are a thing of past.
I have to fly, as long as I last.
...

No acts of valour, no deeds of glory,
No grandeur of legends, no trail of stories.

These feet don't leave footprints on sand,
...

This is how I imagine the things would have been,
A king bereaved and sighing for his queen.
This grandeur in marble is a symbol of grief,
Love so eternal in moments so brief.
...

We treat life like a wishing well.
Where coins lie at a depth unseen.
They bear the weight of many a pledge,
And lose their hue and sheen.

As I soar high in the sky,
I take my solitude shorn of a sigh.
Thrills of a flock are a thing of past.
I have to fly, as long as I last.
...

I have found my freedom in these chains.
Though shackles lie heavy on my limbs,
My gaze has to filter through bars,
My mind can hike on the floating clouds,
...

When a river flows…

When a river flows…
It carries the silt of centuries on its banks,
...

Some quietly stand on the steps of a door like a book on the shelf waiting to be read.
It is not that they never sigh with despair, it's not that they never feel the dread.
Hope is what they hold so dearly in their hearts and patience to keep that flame alive.
Hope and patience give them the strength to pass through infernal rigours.

If ever I write a book on my life,
And pen my days in this world of strife,
Some half done deeds, some fulfilled aims,
My sweetest songs, my saddest strains,
My dearest days, my darkest nights,
Some untold wrongs, some proudest rights,
Some roads on which I sought to travel,
Some mysteries which I rather not unravel,
No mastered word, no sublime goals,
But I promise to write with my heart and soul!
