Ambition Poem by Sonal Chhaya

Ambition

Rating: 5.0

Couple blessed by the Lord
With their bundle of joy
The most beautiful girl eyes can hold
Fair as a maiden, goldilocks and rosy cheeks
Dream come true
What more to ask.

Days grew brighter and nights calmer
Come summer, autumn, winter and spring
Among birds and bees
Well nurtured to face the world
Like a mountain, unshaken.

Swept by ambition and greener pastures
Moves away to suit her needs
Like a blooming bud she bloomed
Dream come true
What more to ask.

Days grew wilder, nights tortuous and thorny
Frustration took an upper hand,
Picked deeper into the skin
Chaffed and burnt
Heart wept and wailed, appalled.

But all in vain
Once an unshaken mountain
Now shattered and torn
Ground to dust
Left an aching void.
