Altered Perceptions (Do Not) Poem by Darren Tyler Howard

Altered Perceptions (Do Not)

Do not torment the mind's perception;
Do not overdose on painful reflection.
Thoughts gain speed,
But principle holds power
Above all, keep the mind well.
With a hard life: Time does tell.

Know that life holds struggle, with no exception;
And the first to cave is moral direction.
Glory makes greed
And hearts do sour.
Demons attacked those that fell
Then life transitions - straight to Hell.

Do not taint the mind's perception
For with it goes Reality....

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is one of my favorite poems that I have written lately. I was reflecting on my own perceptions of life and who I am while I was trying to battle addictions in the back room of a friend's house. Perception is indeed reality, but this poem is a reflection on the difficulty of life when perception is changed.
