Alone Surrounded Poem by Jeremiah Abuan

Alone Surrounded

You see the smiles around you, but not in yourself
now look down, and stay in mourning
don't try to talk, there is no help
no one can hear you, no one knows
even if you look them in the eye and steady
they only stare back at yours, mocking
there is no sorry but for you, and ready
the day has just begun, no one knows
stay in your seat, don't look anywhere else
but in the blank space before you
imagine, if all else fails
you are hurt, and no one knows
hurt for a pain unknown
don't bother asking what or why or who
seconds with a friend by your side, and then alone
once again, for the rest of day
