Alloparenting - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Alloparenting - Lincoln Park Zoo

Colobus monkeys, ones who do
Alloparenting of their young,
Can be seen at Lincoln Park Zoo,
Sharing the parenting among
Colobus Mom with daughter one,
Who wants to help with the baby,
But is not sure what must be done.
So Mom is telling daughter, she
Should handle the baby with care,
And hold the baby gently so
That special bonding, each may share,
Helping young and youngest to grow.

'And daughter, just one more detail, '
'Please do not pull the baby's tail.'
