Alleyway Oblation Poem by Pasquale DiMeola

Alleyway Oblation

Pigeons on a street lamp
Effervescent glow
Drizzle morning chill damp
Bursting into snow

Footprints on the sidewalk
Hot light neon steam
Bus-stop corner small talk
Coffee without cream

Newsboys hawking headlines
'Man jumps off the bridge'
Gurney straps should help bind
Body from the ridge

Family in mourning
Dressed in midnight black
Undertaker yawning
'Life is without tact'

Flowers leaning on props
As the coffin clicks
Priest wipes off pigeon drops
Blows out candle wicks.
