Allen's Swamp Monkey - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Allen's Swamp Monkey - Lincoln Park Zoo

An Allen's swamp monkey I be.
Allen - some zoologist who
Got the privilege name tagging me.
Find the name at Lincoln Park Zoo.
My kind comes from the Congo where
In swampy forests we do live,
Where in the waters well we fare,
Webbed toes and fingers, edge to give,
To swim, to fish, to do wet stuff,
Then back to dwelling in the trees.
Gray/green fur gives cover enough
To fool what a predator sees.

At the Zoo - visit me and mine.
To this monkey, you'll take a shine.
