All In All Poem by Adam Berman

All In All

My lips were thirsty and my heart so sad
I clintched to the ceiling; the earth growing mad
My mind suffered from headaches night and day
I avoided them pills and tried my best to just lay

My hands sort of weak and my fingers sort of numb
I worshiped your face though its features far gone
I jumped in your fire and I froze in your ice
gave you my heart for not much of a price

I swam in your pool and finished the course
I drowned as a lifeguard in the sea of remorse
I put together words of affection and made them my kite
I painted you in color; I painted you in white

(But... I guess that at the end of the day
it really does not matter what I'd do or what I'd say
for no flower or poem could capture nor define
that longing for you, for you to be mine) .
