All Games End Poem by Dean Meredith

All Games End

Dicing with death and fame
Knowing only one was a certainty
Blasted broken record cat at the door
You pay her off and ease your conscience
For now you're o.k. in the moment
Where you're meant to be, maybe
For now you're the captain in control
Your vessel bobbing up and down in sea
The swell mountainous crashes down
Rises up like a ghastly monster
And crashes down again and again
Smashing sound on my sides I hold
Water tight rolling this way and that
Somehow I stay up and afloat
For now, having remembered to breathe
Stay up, remember to breathe, alert
Not alarmed and all that crap
But please do stay up for a while
As long as you can, and enjoy...
The smooth ride down, wipe out
Hit the reef, bleed a lot, float maybe
Wait for sharks, dream a little...
