Alicia Poem by Stephen Howard

Alicia

I told you I would call Sunday night
but I got busy
with a bottle of whiskey,
so I called two days later.
You answered, told me that you were busy
remodeling your grandmothers house
and that you would call back later that night
So while giving up at the bar
my phone rang
I looked down to see your name
I quickly answered saying
'Give me a second'
then hung up to close out
honestly to this day
I should have never asked for that second
