अहिंसा - मानव-गरिमा का मार्ग

हिंदी अनुवाद रजनीश मंगा द्वारा
डट कर खड़ा रहने के लिए और संसार का सामना करने के लिए,
भय की सब बेड़ियाँ तोड़ कर उन्मुक्त होने के लिए,
हर उदात्त उद्देश्य हेतु साहसपूर्वक अपनी आवाज़ उठाने के लिए,
आदमी द्वारा की जा रही ज्यादतियों का विरोध करने के लिए!
स्वर्णिम सपनों को आग में झुलसा देने वाला यह जो खतरनाक दौर है,
मानव जाति को टुकड़े कर देने वाला यह जो अस्थिरता का वक़्त है,
लड़ाई-झगड़े-मारकाट ही मानव गरिमा पर खतरा हैं,
नकारने की आदत के चलते सत्य को स्वीकार करना कठिन हो गया है!
मुझे उठना है मानवाधिकार और आज़ादी के संघर्ष के लिए,
मुझे गिरना नहीं है हृदयहीनता व उदासीनता की हद तक,
मुझे मूढ़ बन कर देखते नहीं रहना दूसरों को इस ओर कोशिश करते,
मुझे तो नफरत और हिंसा फैलाने की हर कोशिश की भर्त्सना करनी है!
आओ हम सब मिलकर संसार को बचायें व इसकी सुरक्षा की चिंता करें,
आओ हम सब हाथ मिला कर काम करें और तरक्की की राह पर चलें,
आओ हम सब प्यार और दया की असीम शक्ति पर विश्वास रखें,
आओ अहिंसा के मार्ग का अनुसरण करते हुये मानव-गरिमा अपनायें!
To stand up and face the world,
To break free from the shackles of fear,
To bravely raise the voice for every worthy cause,
To defy the atrocities committed by man!
Dangerous trends that can set fire to golden dreams,
Disturbances tearing the human race to pieces,
Dignity of man questioned through strife and massacre,
Denial syndromes refusing to acknowledge the truth!
Let me rise up to fight for human rights and freedom,
Let me not stoop down heartless and callous,
Let me not stand like a dumb fool watching others strike,
Let me condemn every act of hatred and violence!
Let us protect and preserve the world together,
Let us join hands to work and grow together,
Let us believe in the strength of love and compassion together,
Let us follow the path of ‘Ahimsa' with human dignity!
(A poem dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi and specially curated by the translator on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of the Mahatma which falls on 2nd October 2019)

A fabulous translation of a beautiful poem, it balances chaste words with folk words of common usage. The outcome is eminently readable.

No religion teaches violence, these are its followers, who change the religion and exploit religious sentiments of innocent and ignorant persons, and drag them towards violence.
