Agony In Our Hearts Poem by Tony Adah

Agony In Our Hearts

There's a great omen looming
In the sky
As Christmas is relished
With our heart in our hands
Not free yet from Book Haram
There's still a great danger ahead
And after Christmas the fright of elections
Stare in our faces like the sun upon the earth
Who will win
And who will lose in good faith and in
The spirit of gamesmanship?
To move the citizens beyond their old creeds

Many people are afraid
Of the red hue of the aftermath of elections
And the season seems
To be that of migrations
But no bomb no dagger can yank
My country into pieces
So long as oil flows
No matter how low its price will go
For the world's coveted dollar.
