Aftermath Poem by Andre prevo

Aftermath

All the fighting, pain, and bloodshed I've seen in my life.
The battles, conflicts, and wars.
The men, women, and children I've slain.
All of the comrades, brothers if you will, I've watch ripped asunder, bludgeoned, and robbed of their manhood.
The memories of the ones I loved take their last breath in my arms.
All of this haunt me even to this day.
And yet even after all of that I still can't contemplate why I still draw breath.
After all of the wounds that I've suffered.
I've killed men that were thought to be gods.
I have also killed a few gods, angels, and demons.
Killed creatures of unspeakable natures.
Monsters of the night.
And yet I have not been awarded death.
Am I an Immortal?
Why must It not let me be with my beloved?
Do I not deserve happiness after everything that has happened?
Should it have ended when she was taken from me?
Or when after I slaughtered those responsible?
After I risked everything to save her?
I've done everything imaginable to end it.
Suicide quests, killing monsters, gods, men, armies, kings and yet nothing.
I have no soul, no beloved, no home, no clan, no band of brothers, no nothing.
A warrior with nothing to lose or gain is no warrior at all not even a man not even alive just a shell.
She was the last.
The last to die.
The last one I cared for.
And when she fell I sold my soul to bring her back.
When He failed I took his head as payment.
I'm sorry my beloved I guess I won't keep my promise.
I won't be able to...
