African Beauty Poem by Mixo Malepfane

African Beauty

It does not scream at you but you will hear the music
It does not shout at you but you will hear its voice
In its silence it roars
Even the deaf can hear the African beauty

It is so ancient and very modern
African beauty is proud but it understand
That inner beauty will always be eternal
And beauty seen by eyes is always for a moment

The world has lusted after you
Then they raped you
And still you are beautiful
I have closed my eyes and still I see your beauty

They say you are poor
Do they not see what you carry
Those are not tears of sorrow I see, but tears of joy
Please can you tell them the secret

After all you shared your wisdom with them
You hugged them with warmth when they were in your shores
They deceived you with promise of tomorrow
But today they call you names
