A Song Of A True Lover Poem by Mixo Malepfane

A Song Of A True Lover

Even thou you have rejected my love let me love you still
Can you allow me to stay in this moment till I find my heart again
Let me cry these tears so that I do not drown in my heartbreak
Words I never said can I now shout them to you

Your memory should haunt me but all it does is give me beautiful dreams
I know I should wake from your dreams
If I could I would have never let my heart break into so many pieces
Maybe my world would not have stopped

Tell me how to forget you and I would in an instant
I showed you my best and you turned me away
I told you all my secrets and you still do not respect me
I showed you my weakness and you used it against me
No wonder they say love is blind, I did not see you
But still the heart wants what it wants

Who will hear my cry and mend my shattered heart
If I could I would buy a new heart
Love has deceived me the most in my life
But then again what would life be without love and love without life
So let me live and love

Conscious
What would I do if my mother never gave you to me
Surely the world would have swallowed me
Or would I have swallowed it
For my conscious is my true face

I sometimes wonder if what I know is true
For my resolve is always to honor my mother’s resolve
If to be honest all my life is not my life
But that of the one who gave me life

So no one has a conscious except a borrowed life
Can my convictions convince my doubts
Or will my doubts give me a new conscious
Is it even possible to have a new a conscious
